even at our busiest, Artists cannot help but create. In the middle of many meetings, commissions, coffee with friends, plannings and the daily duties we have in life, I cannot stop myself: I have to keep creative!

have a great weekend
How many times have you booked yourself the treat of a lifetime only to find it did not thrill or excite you? How many times have you approached the check-in desk of some of the most amazing hotels in the world and left with a feeling of déjà vu? You know the ones I’m talking about; the colour schemes do not sparkle and the bar and room service menus make you want to explore the outside world. The artwork on display does not engage you or tell the story of the hotel and in most cases they look disjointed and irrelevant. Often these hotels do not do enough to keep me entertained either!
But changes are here!!!
Very recently Latestsale.com (www.latestsale.com) a luxury distribution consultancy that works with corporate clients and fine artists on strategic alliances and bespoke commissions approached me. I was invited to participate in an amazing new venture uniting local business communities in the Hospitality and leisure sector in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and the creative industry via a unique event to be held at the Hotel Indigo London Kensington-Earl’s Court (www.hotelindigo.com/kensington), one of London’s top hotels shortlisted for the London Lifestyle Awards 2013 (www.londonlifestyleawards.com/london) and neck to neck with the Savoy at the last leg for final votes. I was approached to participate in a Fine Art exhibition to be held on 20th March 2014 at this prestigious venue, displaying some of my latest works. I was also commissioned to create two portraits, combining my style with the uniqueness of the hotel’s embracing leadership.
My commissions include a classic portrait of the Hotel Indigo London Kensington-Earl’s Court General Manager, Lord Vincent Garrington, completed in September 2013. The main challenge with this portrait was to add an urban yet sophisticated edge to the General Manager of a 4* deluxe hotel! I completed another portrait of long –standing employee of over 20 years Rosetta Watson also completed in September 2013 as a celebration of this employee’s work and commitment to the Hotel Indigo London Kensington-Earl’s Court for over 20 years. Rosetta’s humility, elegance and sense of fashion was captured rather well I thought.
So I will be exhibiting with three other artists; Courtney Cornelius Adams (www.artofcourtney.com), Shiroma Ratne ( http://www.shiromaratne.com/) and Hayhill Gallery favourite Ali Jabbar (www.hayhill.com/docs/jabbar.html). I am planning on showcasing recent portraits from my Ritratti Scritti and Graphitology series that are continuously developing.
The original pieces will be available for sale from the 20th March 2014 at the event as well as prints that can be purchased via Latestsale.com’s website until the end of April 2014. During this period, from 20th March 2014 to 30th April 2014, 15% will also be donated to the Hotel Indigo Charity Bursary, which distributes the funds on an annual basis to a number of good causes including local charities via the Kensington & Chelsea Foundation (www.thekandcfoundation.com). Through the Foundation 15% of all proceeds for my sales will be going to the award winning charity the ClementJames centre whose initiatives aim to break the cycle of generations of unemployment in the RBKC and to inspire students and job seekers seeking opportunities in the Arts (Fine Art, Graphic design, Interior Design, Illustration, Photography or Architecture). The Kensington and Chelsea Foundation who recommended this charity to Latestsale.com and the Hotel Indigo London Kensington-Earl’s Court will coordinate the distribution of these funds to the ClementJames centre (www.clementjames.co.uk ).
It is a rare and very exciting opportunity to be part of what I believe to be a new trend in the art world where artists and corporations come together to create bespoke, functional works of art for public spaces and at the same time raise vital funds for charity.
I am inviting you all to the evening Preview on the 20th March 2014 with delightful, mouth-watering refreshments and canapés served by the hotel’s hospitality team. It is sure to delight you! However numbers are restricted and you have to be on the guest list, so email email@example.com and if you do it quickly enough, we’ll make room for you!
